New Mustang Dark Horse Features an Incredible 5.0-Liter V8

Ford recently ushered in the New Year by giving Mustang enthusiasts exactly what they want: the most powerful 5.0-Liter V8 ever available in a deluxe Mustang. The new 2024 Mustang Dark Horse is the racing-specialist version of the Mustang GT, offering 500 ponies of raw power and functionality that still emphasizes everyday driving comfort behind the wheel.

The Ford Mustang Dark Horse boasts plenty of performance enhancements and capabilities, arriving with a custom-tuned suspension, Brembo six-piston front brakes, and MagneRide adaptive dampers. This powerful muscle car also features a unique strut tower brace that weighs less and is more robust than standard Mustang components, plus a fixed rear wing.

The Dark Horse’s interior comes with a luxurious suede-wrapped steering wheel and an anodized silver shift paddle and a convenient drive-mode button. A Sync 4 interface and Bright Indigo Blue accent stitching enhance the vehicle’s powerful style, and the Dark Horse also arrives with a redesigned cabin that utilizes a more modern, driver-centric design. Ford will offer the Mustang Dark Horse with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic. This automatic includes sport paddle shifters and an auxiliary transmission-oil cooler. In addition, Dark Horse comes with a unique lightweight radiator that provides improved cooling.

“Every time someone gets behind the wheel of a Mustang, we know they want to feel that strong connection to their vehicle – and we’re just as invested in creating that bond,” said Suzanne Robinson, Coyote engine program supervisor. “With the increased responsiveness you get from the new dual throttle bodies, we’re wringing every ounce of performance we can out of our engine so Mustang enthusiasts can have that experience.”

The Dark Horse’s cabin is also trimmed in Black Alley and features an available B&O sound system with 12 speakers for immersive soundscapes on the road. It’s also accompanied by a custom-designed Sync 4 interface that can receive over-the-air updates. Other options include a Deep Indigo Blue seat pack and Notorious Blue Brembo brake calipers.

Dark Horse models have a wide body and wider fenders. There is also a wider-set front splitter and side skirts. To balance the look of the front end, a carbon fiber bumper is added. Finally, the Dark Horse will come with super-sticky Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires.
