Ford To Open New Megacampus “Blue Oval City” In Tennessee
The Ford Motor Company substantially bolstered its development plans for new electric cars and trucks on Monday by announcing that it would invest billions to construct three new battery factories and a specialized electric truck plant in the United States, expecting to open 11,000 jobs within the next four years.
The most significant location may be Blue Oval City, the massive advanced campus based in Tennessee that will create the next generation of electric F-Series trucks and the batteries to power incoming electric Ford and Lincoln vehicles.
These plans collectively amount to the largest initial U.S. investment in electric automobiles by any domestic vehicle manufacturer. Working together with its partner, SK Innovation, Ford plans to invest over $11 billion for new jobs at the Tennessee and Kentucky mega-sites, empowering local communities and extending Ford’s position as the country’s most significant employer of hourly autoworkers.
Blue Oval City, the all-new $5.6 billion mega campus in Stanton, Tenn., is projected to open about 6,000 new jobs while redesigning the fundamental manufacturing process for vehicles and batteries. Blue Oval City will eventually become a manufacturing ecosystem for Ford to put together an increased lineup of electric F-Series vehicles, including a BlueOvalSK battery plant, crucial suppliers, and dedicated recycling procedures. Ford’s emerging Tennessee assembly plant is intended to work as completely carbon neutral with zero waste-to-landfill results once fully running.
Blue Oval City’s 3,600-acre campus will cover almost 6 square miles and centralize local vehicle assembly, battery production, and even a park for suppliers that boosts cost efficiency while minimizing the manufacturing’s overall carbon footprint. The assembly plant will adopt always-active cloud-connected tech to encourage significant improvements in quality and productivity. The new massive campus will improve sustainability options for the company, including the possibility of using local renewable energy like geothermal, wind, and solar power.
