Extremely Rare One-Of-50 Shelby 289 FIA Cobra Roadster Up For Grabs

Every Ford fan worth their motor oil should already know about racer Carroll Shelby and his ties to the Blue Oval brand over the years. Back in 1966 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Shelby and Ford teamed up to take down Ferrari, an exhilarating story which served as the basis for the 2019 film Ford v Ferrari.
 

Even well into his later years, Shelby continued to work alongside Ford to develop some of the sickest muscle cars ever conceived. Now, one lucky person has the opportunity to bring home a piece of Ford and Shelby history, as an amazing one-of-50 Shelby 289 FIA Cobra Roadster is up for raffle courtesy of Cobra Experience.
 

The Cobra Experience is a 501c3 non-profit museum located in Martinez, California. Since its founding, the museum has had one mission: to promote, conserve, educate, and preserve the cars produced by Shelby American.
 

This 50th anniversary Shelby 289 FIA Cobra Roadster was built by Superformance. The car pays tribute to the legendary FIA Cobra Roadsters of old, a race car that helped Ford rack up a 1965 World Manufacturer’s Championship with drivers Ken Miles, Bob Bondurant, Phil Hill, and Dan Gurney all tasting victory behind the wheel in one of five original cars.
 

This particular Cobra, serial number CSX7962, is 100 percent street legal. It is finished in Viking Blue with white roundels and a yellow team stripe. Its body is wider than a typical Cobra, and it is fitted with Halibrand pin-drive wheels. 
 

Under the hood, this ride houses a 302 cubic-inch V8 engine that produces a whopping 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.
 

Proceeds from the upcoming raffle, which ends June 5th, will help the Cobra Experience expand and further develop programs that educate the public and the next generation of automotive enthusiasts about the legacy of Carroll Shelby and his amazing cars.
