NASCAR Xfinity Series Reveals All-New 2020 Mustang Race Car

NASCAR’s second-tier stock car series is the latest to join in on the hype for the upcoming Ford Mustang model. Developed as a joint effort between Ford Design and the Ford Performance Technical Center, the 2020 Xfinity mustang is the fifth all-new motorsports Mustang unveiled in the past year.

Each new Mustang race car was individually produced by members of Ford’s engineering and aerodynamics teams located in Concord, NC. Originally a facility exclusively focused on Ford Performance Racing development, the Ford Performance Technical Center has also recently become a test-site for upcoming production vehicles like the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

“We’ve always talked about Mustang being a car that was born to race,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance Motorsports. “It’s been gratifying to see it performing so well in multiple series around the world.”

In addition to the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the Mustang has become the premier model for racing in NASCAR’s Monster Energy Cup Series, National Hot Rod Association Funny Car division, Virgin Australia Supercars Championship and grassroots Cobra Jet in just this past year alone?and it’s already won in each. Ford Performance models especially have a winning heritage in NASCAR, and the Mustang is no different.

So far in 2019, Ford Mustang drivers Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, and Kevin Harvick have each brought their car to the winner’s circle a combined seven times, with the most recent victory coming at Michigan International this past weekend.

“Ford and NASCAR have enjoyed a long and storied partnership,” stated Ben Kennedy, NASCAR’s managing director of racing operations and international development. “The iconic Mustang has solidified its place within that legacy...We’re looking forward to seeing what the newest generation of the Mustang will do on the track.”

The all-new Xfinity Series Mustang will debut next season at Daytona on February 15, but the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will be coming to the Winner Ford lot this Fall.
